Publishing History

Dream Dictionary

Dream Dictionary was first published in the UK by Macdonald in 1990 under the Optima imprint. Little Brown bought out Macdonald. The book has been reprinted in 1990 - 1992 - 1994 twice - 1995 - 1997 - 1998 - 1999.

In 2002 Bantam Dell published a revised edition in the USA.

Writing Dream Dictionary came about through my working for the national UK newspaper The Daily Mail. For many years I had been working in the role of therapist using dreams, but the thousands of dreams received via the dream page of the Daily Mail gave a tremendous boost to understanding and information gathered.

I wanted very much to share what I had learnt, and eventually was offered a commission with Macdonalds through the support of Erica Smith. Later, Little Brown UK purchased the rights and continued to publish in the UK.

Dream Dictionary has been published in many different countries throughout the world other than the UK:
